Farmington, NM – Farmington’s skies will come alive September 26–28 with the return of the Four Corners Balloon Rally. The weekend will feature colorful morning ascensions, enchanting evening glows, and family-friendly fun for the entire community. All balloon events remain free to the public.
The festivities begin Friday morning, September 26, with a mass ascension at Lake Farmington at 7:00 a.m. Lake access fees will be waived during the event, though no watercraft will be permitted on the lake during the ascension. Road access past the campground will be closed, and shuttle services will be available from designated lots. Off-site viewing will also be possible from Saddleback Park and Lions Wilderness Park. That evening, the skies will glow at San Juan College’s Graduation Plaza during the Evening Balloon Glow from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., followed by an afterglow concert and on-campus activities.
On Saturday and Sunday, September 27–28, morning ascensions will shift to Animas Valley Mall at 4601 E. Main Street from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Spectators should note that mall access will be restricted from Main Street; entry is available via English Road or Largo Street. Parking is located on the south side of the mall, with accessible parking near JCPenney on the west end.
For those who can’t make it out in person, KSJE will livestream each morning’s ascension on their Facebook page, bringing the sights and sounds of the rally right to your screen.
Saturday evening, Downtown Farmington will once again sparkle with the beloved Balloon Glow at the Farmington Civic Center Plaza from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This community favorite combines glowing balloons with food vendors and family fun in the heart of Downtown.
A new change for 2025 comes as a result of updated FAA regulations—sponsorship packages will no longer include balloon flights. But there’s still a way to get in the air: sign up to crew a balloon, and pilots may invite crew members to join them for an unforgettable flight.
The success of the Four Corners Balloon Rally depends on the generosity of sponsors and the energy of volunteers. By sponsoring, you’ll showcase your business to thousands of attendees while directly supporting one of Farmington’s most beloved community events. By volunteering, you’ll be part of the action and help create lasting memories for visitors and families.
