The New Mexico Legislature is Unanimous For Bueno Foods

The House and Senate Serve Up “Bueno Foods Day” to Celebrate 75 Years of Flavor and Homegrown Jobs

Albuquerque, NM – The New Mexico Legislature is turning up the heat in honor of one of the state’s most beloved homegrown brands. The New Mexico House of Representatives and the New Mexico Senate approved respective certificates honoring Bueno Foods during the 30-day legislative session. The unanimous consents were in recognition of Bueno Foods’ 75th anniversary and its deep roots in the state’s culture, economy, and communities.

The legislative certificates, sponsored by Senator George K. Muñoz (D-Cibola, McKinley & San Juan) and Representative Art De La Cruz (D-Bernalillo) celebrate Bueno Foods’ 75th year in business, its status as a continuously family-owned and operated enterprise, and the three generations of the Baca family who have led the company and helped shape the flavors, colors and official question of New Mexico.

The certificates recognize Bueno Foods’ commitment to New Mexico’s culinary heritage through a product line of more than 150 New Mexican and Mexican food products available in restaurants and on retail shelves nationwide, including its signature Autumn Roast green chile and Grandma’s tortillas.

Legislators also salute the company’s role as a cornerstone of New Mexico’s manufacturing base and its support of the New Mexico chile industry, including being the first company and the first farmers to become New Mexico chile-certified.

“Four generations of the Baca family have proudly brought real New Mexican cuisine to New Mexicans throughout the state and introduced it to people across the nation,” said Gene Baca, President of Bueno Foods.

The approvals in both the Senate and the House recognize Bueno Foods for its exemplary business and the celebration of its 75th anniversary.
