ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Calvary Church announces that New Mexico’s largest Easter Sunrise Service will take place on Sunday, April 5, at 7:30 am at University of New Mexico Stadium. This community‑wide Easter tradition is open to the public and free to attend.
This year’s theme, “Following Jesus Out of the Grave,” centers on the hope, freedom, and new life made possible through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Attendees will gather at sunrise for a powerful celebration of Easter, featuring heartfelt worship led by Grammy‑nominated singer‑songwriter Tim Timmons (I Can Only Imagine 2) alongside Calvary MSC, and a compelling message from Pastor Skip Heitzig, Senior Pastor of Calvary Church.
Spanish translation and deaf interpretation will be available during the stadium service.
“The empty tomb shows us not only the humility of God, the reality of sin, and the mortality of man—but also the victory of Christ,” said Pastor Skip Heitzig. “Because Jesus rose from the grave, we are invited to follow Him into new life.”
Tim Timmons is a Grammy‑nominated singer, songwriter, and worship leader known for music marked by honesty, hope, and joy. Diagnosed with incurable cancer more than two decades ago, Timmons has turned his personal journey into a testimony of faith, writing songs that point people toward a living hope and a daily walk with Jesus. He co‑wrote MercyMe’s Grammy‑nominated song “Even If,” now featured in the recent film I Can Only Imagine 2. Beyond music, Timmons is the founder of 10,000 Minutes, a nonprofit and podcast encouraging believers to follow Jesus in everyday life—not just on Sundays.
Additional Easter morning services will be held at Calvary Church’s Osuna campus at 9:30 and 11:30 am. Families with children in fifth grade and below are invited to enjoy a bounce house and Easter egg hunt following services at 1 pm in the greenbelt. Additional Easter services will take place at Calvary Church’s other campuses; full service times and locations are available at EasterABQ.com.
The Easter Sunrise Service will livestream with live pastoral and prayer support on live.calvarynm.church, as well as on YouTube and Facebook Live, on Sunday, April 5, at 7:30 am. Easter morning services at 9:30 and 11:30 am will also be livestreamed.
Ahead of Easter Sunday, Calvary Church will host Good Friday services on Friday, April 3, at its Osuna campus. The outdoor noon service is a longstanding Calvary tradition, featuring worship, Communion, and a brief message from Pastor Skip Heitzig. An additional 6:30 pm service will be held for those unable to attend during the day. A Vitalant blood drive will also take place from 8 am to 3 pm, continuing Calvary Church’s annual Good Friday outreach.
