NM Senior Olympics Summer Games, June 8-11 in Las Cruces, NM

Senior Olympics Summer Games Adds Events to 2022 Game Schedule

The New Mexico Senior Olympics Executive Committee of the Board of Directors announce 2022 Game Schedule changes with recent COVID guidelines being updated statewide. Cecilia Acosta, Executive Director stated the added events to the game schedule is very welcome as athletes have indicated interest to do more while planning to attend the Games and “to make the trek to Las Cruces even better” eluding to the present gas prices. Acosta continued “The Games will still include only eighteen sports” as 2022 will be a limited version of the Games as many seniors have not been training and have not had access to sport facilities to practice their sport. The last year the Games were held in New Mexico was 2018 with 2,055 registered athletes, 2019 did not offer State Games because National Senior Games were held in Albuquerque for a historical attendance of 14,000 athletes; 2020 and 2021 were not held due to the pandemic. The ’22 Games will take place June 8-11, 2022, at New Mexico State University and City of Las Cruces. The recent adoption by the Executive Committee will be presented and ratified by the full board of directors at the April 21, 2022, meeting to be held in Roswell,
