Santa Fe NFT Marks First-Ever Digital Marketplace to Support Santa Fe-based Artists

World-renowned Santa Fe art market now accessible through web3 technology platform

SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe NFT is shaking up the Santa Fe art scene by bringing in some modern flare. Earlier this year, they launched their art marketplace, santafenft.io, an online platform that unites artists and global collectors. With the mission of elevating local artists and supporting their experience in the digital art world, the company provides a platform that is a hub for Santa Fe creators to sell their art and music as digital assets, or non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

This is the first-ever NFT platform centered around art from the contemporary Santa Fe art scene. Santa Fe is one of the largest art markets in the U.S., globally renowned for its desert and western-style art, turquoise jewelry, and innovative creations.

Led by local business owners Jeff and Kari Keenan, Santa Fe NFT started 2024 off strong by teaming up with local artists Joel Nakamura and Stacey Sullivan de Maldonado from Los Muertos Fine Art Works, for their first drops, or “mints” of the year. The artists’ works are “hung” in virtual galleries, some of which are representative of physical works available for purchase. Users can purchase the art via crypto payment or by credit card.

“We are so excited to bring Santa Fe art into the NFT space in a way that creates community and values the city’s local artists,” said Jeff and Kari Keenan, Santa Fe NFT founders. “We’re lucky to live in a city that is steeped in tradition and culture; it is immersed in art. We’re thrilled to share a special part of Santa Fe with the rest of the world. This is a great opportunity for digital art buyers to own a slice of the Santa Fe art scene in a way that supports the creators.”

Stacey Sullivan de Maldonado and Joel Nakamura are kindred spirits with Joel having mentored Stacey as an illustrator decades ago, kicking off Stacey’s career and inspiring her to move to Santa Fe. Maldonado’s prolific art career includes work that has been purchased by celebrities, high-ranking officials, and art collectors. Her work has been shown in prestigious spaces like The White House, The Supreme Court Building in Santa Fe, The Albuquerque Museum of Art, El Museo de Cultural de Santa Fe, and more. Her “In Love – To The Bone” collection features 999 limited edition NFTs, with Los Muertos-style skeleton art all completely hand-drawn and hand-painted by Maldonado.

“My goal is to bring my ‘Los Muertos Fine Art Works’ to a modernized, globalized, democratized art market, and to be one of the first from the Santa Fe art space to do so, making my art and its voice accessible and available to more people than I previously ever dreamed possible,” said Stacey Sullivan de Maldonado.

This connection between web3 technology and the Santa Fe art community underscores the Land of Enchantment as a force to be reckoned with on the national stage when it comes to digital assets. As capital behind web3 technology grows, it’s critical that New Mexico continues to foster web3 innovation.
