The “Globito Glow in the Village” Returns to Los Ranchos

LOS RANCHOS DE ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Mayor Rael and the Village of Los Ranchos Economic Development Board are excited to announce the return of the “Globito Glow in the Village” on the original Route 66. This free event will take place on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. In honor of the Route 66 Centennial, the Village of Los Ranchos will light up the night with 66 Globitos, lining 4^th Street from Schulte Rd to Pueblo Solano Rd.  

Globitos are stunning, 20-foot-tall remote-controlled scale-model hot air balloons flown by expert remote control operators. Complete with intricate miniature shapes and fully functioning burners, Globitos bring all the awe of a hot air balloon right to eye level and within the imagination for kids of all ages.

What’s Glowing on at the Event?

• The Main Event: 66 Glowing Globitos — A close-up night glow tribute celebrating 100 years of the Mother Road.
• Entertainment — Engaging and creative activity stations nestled along 4th Street, designed for kids and kids at heart, along with live music to keep the energy high all evening long. 
• Local Shops & Eats — Stroll through the Village and visit participating businesses that will be open for guests to shop, dine, and explore during the event.
• Beer Gardens & Food Trucks — Enjoy a variety of craft beers and gourmet bites from on-site beer gardens and food trucks throughout the evening.

“The Globito Glow in the Village showcases what makes Los Ranchos so special, a tight-knit community, vibrant local businesses, and a deep connection to our history,” said Magda Martinez-Baca, Director of the Los Ranchos Economic Development Board. “As we celebrate the Route 66 Centennial, we’re proud to create an experience where families can enjoy the glow, explore our shops and restaurants, and see firsthand how the Los Ranchos path to Main Street is helping our Village thrive.”

A complimentary shuttle service will be located at the Los Ranchos Antique Mall, 7901 4th St NW, Los Ranchos De Albuquerque, NM 87114. Shuttles will run continuously throughout the event. Additional parking for $5.00 will be available at Chamizal Trailhead on 4th St just south of Osuna Rd.
