ALBUQUERQUE, NM—Calvary Church announces New Mexico’s biggest sunrise service is happening Sunday, March 31, at 7:30 am at UNM Stadium. This family-friendly Easter tradition is open for everyone in the community to attend at no cost.
This year’s theme is “From the Ground.” Attendees will enjoy a creative, multimedia experience that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, plus a joyful worship session led by guest artist Austin French and Calvary Worship. Skip Heitzig, Senior Pastor at Calvary Church, will share a compelling message of hope. Spanish translation and deaf interpretation will be available.
Executive Pastor Nate Heitzig shared, “Jesus’ death and resurrection are the reason for our hope and our joy—and we can’t wait to celebrate that with our community at this year’s Easter Sunrise service.”
Up-and-coming Christian artist Austin French is a singer-songwriter who first gained prominence as the runner-up on ABC’s reality show Rising Star. Bursting onto the scene in 2017, he swiftly climbed the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart with his debut single, “Freedom Hymn.” In 2019, he was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards. Austin aims to spread a message of hope in Jesus through his music.
Additional Easter morning services will be held at the Osuna campus at 9 and 11 am. Kids in 5th grade and under can enjoy the bounce house and hunt for Easter eggs after services at 1 pm in the greenbelt. Additional Easter services will be held at our other Calvary Church campuses; for service times and locations, visit calvarynm.church/events.
Easter sunrise service will livestream with live pastoral and prayer support on live.calvarynm.church, on YouTube, and Facebook Live on Sunday, March 31, at 7:30 am. Easter morning services will also livestream at 9 and 11 am with live pastoral and prayer support.
Ahead of Easter Sunday, Calvary Church is hosting two Good Friday services on March 29 at their Osuna campus. The outdoor service at noon on Good Friday is a beloved annual tradition that includes worship, Communion, and a brief message from Pastor Skip Heitzig. The church is also holding a 6:30 pm service for those who cannot attend at noon due to daytime commitments. Vitalant will be on site for a blood drive from 8 am to 3 pm; sign up at qrco.de/beoucR. The blood drive is also part of the church’s annual Good Friday tradition.
